The real Shameless!
Ok, I've come out of my sabbatical briefly to say this.... Lots of people said (over on IG's Blog here and here) we were out of order when many of us in Police Blog world stated there was something fishier than a sackful of Kippers about the whole Shannon Matthews Case. And now we find that a plot from a Channel 4 Sitcom seems to be from where the idea was hatched.
Now I'm not saying we are the experts here at spotting a collection of thick-chav-job-shy-piss-takers....
Actually, yes I am saying we are the experts at spotting thick-chav-job-shy-piss-takers.....
Because we are... we see them every day, and every night.
I'm off tonight, so I'm enveloped by the onset of normality. But come tomorrow, I'll meet this sorry bunch a dozen times over!
You can't make it up!

The Last Post.
You might notice I don't post much these days,
I was reading Ex Traffic Biker's post in Inspector Gadget (post 34) the other day and thought.... Christ, is that all I've got to look forward to... ?
I still love this job despite its misgivings, and the people in it. I still try my best and expect that of others too, but to be honest I've not got the spirit for blogging anymore and due to OT and other stuff, I'm rarely at home and certainly never on the computer long enough to vent my spleen. I think I've said the things I probably needed to say now.
I'm happier reading your blogs. Keep it up I enjoy them.
I'm leaving mine here so you can trawl through them at your leisure.

Ps. Ignore the dickheads, they are just another day at the office.

Puerile! Empty! - But I'll Argue Anyway

Would it? Well, Maybe it's worth a try... a little ceremony after 10 or 11 years in a school system, instead of just leaving on a May Friday never to be seen again!
But this is England, so we have to have detractors. We just have to....
John Dunford from the Association of School and College leaders said the citizenship ceremony was "a half-baked idea". What Happened to the "water the plants and they will grow" attitude?
And Labour peer Baroness Kennedy and Human Rights Lawyer said: "I think this is a serious mistake - I think it's puerile and I think it's rather silly. The symbols of a healthy democracy are not to be found in empty gestures and I'm afraid I see this as an empty gesture" But what about the kids of families who want to display patriotism, if its puerile, then whats your problem love?
Graham Smith of the group Republic, which campaigns for the abolition of the monarchy, told the BBC: "It's offensive to people who do actually cherish democracy and who actually cherish the sorts of liberties we've fought for centuries, swearing an oath would be an attack on people's freedom of conscience. If children refuse to take part, " he added, "are they then going to be told or taught that they are somehow less British or less loyal or less patriotic?" Ha Ha Ha.... what a jerk! No. is the simple answer. If they don't want to... so what? However, they may get cheaper student loans, or free entry to museums or a free coke with fries, who knows. but they can't lose. If it's so puerile, these are harsh words. Are there no other civil Liberties to worry about mate? now you've got to defend a conscience?
Strikes me that they protest too much... American kids claim Allegiance to their flag every breakfast. So whats wrong with it here?
Oh.. Oh yeah.... principles.... That's right.
This Countries full of them.
Here's one example of what makes us Great!
PS. for more greatness, read any blog, or any news page.
